Outdoor Classroom Day

Outdoor Classroom Day is a worldwide event organised to celebrate and promote learning and play outside of the classroom.

Outdoor learning helps improve children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. Play is vital to children’s development, helping them to develop life skills such as resilience and independence, and is also central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.

Every year we invite schools from across Islington to join us – for free – to celebrate Outdoor Classroom Day at one of our adventure playgrounds. Our sites are inspirational places, offering children and young people opportunities to develop confidence, self-esteem and a sense of achievement through hands on experiences in a natural environment. Our qualified practitioners, who are trained in child development and play theories, are able to facilitate sessions and support teachers in achieving personal outcomes for each and every child.

Whether you plan to go bug hunting for science, teach maths with natural materials, or would like to see how inspired children are after an extended playtime with loose materials, the creative opportunities on our adventure playgrounds are endless.

If you are a teacher that would like to celebrate Outdoor Classroom Day at one of our adventure playgrounds, please contact us on 020 7607 9637 or info@islingtonplay.org.uk.
